Meet another Defender of Ukraine and a patient of the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center "ORTOPEDSERVICECENTER" – Oleksandr!
On March 7, Oleksandr voluntarily joined the fight to defend his homeland.
After training at the International Training Center in Lviv region, he was assigned to the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and became the commander of a separate platoon in the 2nd Mechanized Battalion’s Communications Unit under the Command of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleksandr and his battalion provided communications and security for the command observation post until April 6, when they came under tank fire. A direct hit from a shell took the lives of many of his comrades. At first, they thought he was among them...
However, our Hero fought for his life, pressing his bones together to slow the bleeding. When his comrades, who were rescuing the survivors, didn't realize he was still alive, he shouted: "I’ll give you a '200' right now! I’m alive!"
It could not have been otherwise, as Oleksandr has engraved in both his heart and on his arm: "With hope for life" – a tattoo that holds deep meaning for him, thanks to his beloved wife, Nadiia. He cherishes, values, and loves her, as she is his protector and the meaning of his life.
Now, a trained educator, Oleksandr plans to teach industrial arts, technical creativity, and pre-conscription training for young men.
He actively stays in touch with his comrades on the front lines, supports fellow soldiers who have also lost limbs, and, together with his wife, continues to donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Our Defender has a message for all Ukrainians:
"The more occupiers we eliminate now, the less of this mess our children will have to deal with!"
So let's not stop! Let's fight with all our strength—for freedom, independence, for our home!
For Ukraine!
